What would it take us to actually organise something properly and get the relevant authorities onboard?

Even at 8k per car these guys are talking about for 100 people, over 5 days ... it's not costing 1200/car/day to book a few hotel rooms and put on a buffet... That's just the entry fees, add in a few sponsors, a worthwhile charity or two and it's doable (though not sure if it's insurable or whether you could disclaim away some knucklehead not following the rules and causing a big accident...)
