Had a chat with the father of the guy that started/funded ausrun. No not Ross.

I am assuming he would be behind this run as well as his unique yellow car is pictured a lot in the web site ;)

Its organised by the guys who do the runs overseas.

Yup ... splashed all over multiple news sites.

The worst that happened was that one guy out of 125 was caught doing 216kph ... an englishman who doesn't understand how the aussies "control" their roads.  There's always one on these runs, no matter how controlled or non-race you try to make them.

I enjoyed some pre-chat with many of the guys/girls who were just out for a nice drive and some partying.  One or two take it seriously.  The organisers were genuine even if a bit naive.

I think the press over-exaggerate everything to make a story - so the guy got caught and will face court if he's still in the country ... no story ... move on.

We, all enjoy a good spirited drive ... I think the trick is not to be caught doing it ... otherwise clearly it was in the wrong place! :-D
