[308]

Hi All
I was all set to buy a 1982 308 GTSi and the deal fell over but I have another in my sights and was hoping for some enlightenment before I transfer my hard earned $$$
The Vin is ZFFHA02C000038031 
I looked on the web and the only info i can find says that 02 should be a 308 GTB??? and 04 is a 308 GTS all the rest of the code stacks up...
Any thoughts?

Yes, 02 should be a 308 GTBi, UK specification RHD. However......I have #38031 as a 308 GTSi first registered to a Glenn Marks in the UK on plates FKO 308Y.  Can you show me the link please?

there is an anomaly of the chassis numbering.

there is no individual identity for 308 GTSi... they are all grouped together as "02"s.

Other GTS are separate though.

Ummm, are you sure Filly, a GTBi should be xxx1 and the GTSi should be xxx2.  I humbly apologise for not making that clear above.

I don't see GTSi anywhere

it LOOKS like a simple typo on the website... and that 02 is indeed GTSi, based solely on the fact that there is 01 for one of the GTBi listings, and all the other B's come before the S's in the list.

BUT, that website puts itself out there as a reference ... and is clearly not right....

Carl was wrong and it took a grease monkey to point both THAT out, and that a reference website is wrong too.

I think where the original confusion came in is the reference to 04 as being for a 308 GTS, well, it is, but a carburettor GTS only.

The two valve injection cars should be 01 for a GTB and 02 for a GTS.  My original reference to the 02 being for a GTB is incorrect.

The first 308 GTSi I was considering also had the 02 so I thought it had to be correct but the Vin ref on the web got me worried...
The plates Carl mention are still with the car but it now has another owner...and hopefully if all goes well I will be the new owner...just going through the deal right now and today I sent off the application for import approval....being built in 1981 should see it getting registered without too much fuss...
Got a quote for $933 UKP for R/O R/O southhampton to Melb...sounds like aa good price and I won't opt for insurance...too expensive and not much risk i'm told...
