Spare a thought for Steve from KHPC who has been horribly injured, possibly totally paralysed after crashing a 348.

It's a notorious stretch of road. My dad (many years ago) and Roger from KHPC have both had crashes there themselves.

If any of you have been to KHPC, Steve is the workshop 2IC behind Alastair.

So, it's really not very good news.

Steve will be in hospital for at least two years and "may" get feeling in his arms back, but "probably" won't get any leg feeling back.

He can speak, which is about the only good news I guess.

Damp/greasy conditions and speed are the only two things known for sure about the causes of the accident.

I did four years but got to walk at the end of it. I also had the adaptability of youth.
Think if I was in your friend's situation as an adult I'd want to call it a day.

What does it matter whose car it was. It's insured.

The road is an old Kentish Roman road... dead straight... yet it undulates up and down.... so it's easy to be unsighted. err, try google earth for "weald of kent" golf club. Near headcorn or sutton valence, in kent. edit http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=&ie=UTF8&ll=51.188368,0.609827&spn=0.010625,0.022509&t=h&z=16

They decided to build a Golf Club and put the entrance near a crest, and also near a minor cross roads.... So there can be a number of intersecting traffic streams at vastly different speeds.

It's also a  little bumpy, which 348 are not that good on as they are so pitchy.

But in my exprience, my dads experience, and most likely on most peoples experience.... it's idiots pulling out of the cross roads or the golf club without looking, that cause the accident. It wouldn't matter much what speed you were going along the main A274. At their merge speed, they are in the way for so long, that any speed you are doing ~20mph either side of the limit, you're gunna crash. it's just a case of hit 'em in the front, or hit em in the back.
