andecorp, a bunch of us adelaidians are trying to organize a once a year pilgramage to the PI track.  currently waiting for costings and available dates from the track.

we're targetting min of 15 and up to 20 cars. and budget of around $1000/person for track hire n food. most of the adelaide guys will transport their cars there.

we have 9 so far. would you be interested?

Thats a far more realistic costing and track density.

This particualr day was a one off, or close to it, aimed at track experienced guys in semi or full competition cars...

www.eventsoneill.com has many track days throughout the year too

wow...those evo's can hang with the ferrari's on that track....are those modified evo's?

I was browsing through some old Motor mags... at the 2007 BYFB comparison, the standard Evo IX (on road tyres, not semi-slicks a la MY06 STi) driven by Warren Luff recorded the fastest time of the day at Wakefield: 1:09.39sec.  So a stock Evo IX on road tyres will do a 69 second lap at Wakefield.

Motor has also timed standard Evo IXs (on road tyres driven by Luff) as follows

Winton- 1:40.18sec       (MY06 STi on semi slicks: 1:42.39sec)
Oran Park- 49.75sec      (MY06 STi on semi slicks: 49.45sec).

So, if you fitted the STi's standard Potenza RE70 tyres to the Evo, you'd reduce those times even further.

I still wouldn't buy an Evo, though! :)

So, what WOULD you buy, in this "class"...

Class can mean, performance..  in which case you'd need a 360CS or 430 Scud etc

or class can mean price/seating capacity/everydaydriver ability, in which case you could have a Falcon/commodore....

I've decided that my next car will be a Polo GTi.  I reckon they're ace!

I briefly considered Evo IX/STi/R32, but I reckon Polo GTi gives far better bang for buck.  I won't get one in time for Tassie this year (ol' XR8 will still have to suffice), but I can't wait for next year's Tassie trip when I'll have that GTi! :)
