It's a love/hate thing that's been going on for about a decade.

You remember back in the day you were waiting forever for Mulder and Scully to get it on but didn't really want it to happen? The PP/FF thing is a really boring version of that, except their show was cancelled many seasons ago and they still think anyone gives a random duck fart about them - still turning up in futile and embarrassing efforts to appear relevant.
