Anyone know where to find the engine number on a 1984 308 GTB?

It's on the top of the engine, in the middle of the V, drivers side (RH).
Why such a long face?

Do you need to pull off parts to see it? I have been looking all over.

It's underneath a thingy, to the right of the plenum chamber (the big red whatsamajig), you should be able to see it looking forward from the back.

FF might be able to put up a pic, otherwise I will over the weekend.

Thanks for that... much appreciated!!
BTW your engine engine bay looks awesome!! Did you clean it all up or has it just been maintained immaculately?? This is the area of my car that needs the work...

Things i need to do:

paint the red thingamajig
get a new black box to right of the red thing (air filter box??)
and paint the black radiator
and give the engine a massive degrease...

If you did it yourself do you know any parts places i can get stuff from?
