Given that this is the pinnacle of Ferraris normal production offerings, that seems a bit underwhelming to me. No groundbreaking new tech and performance that is already matched by the opposition.

Perhaps we have reached the new ceiling for performance for the normal supercars?

That was my point, have we reached a new performance ceiling?
I'm old and have been in the scene since the early 70's as a kid. In that time I have noticed that every 10 years or so a car comes along that takes performance to a whole new level and then it levels off until the next one comes along. Perhaps the cycle is a bit shorter now with the exponential speed of technological development now.

I think Ferrari has to go turbo and hybrid across the board or get left behind. I think the new P14 McLaren will blitz all but the hypercars from the inside info I have heard.

Yep.

The mid-engined road 12cyl Ferraris were dinosaurs and nowhere near as user friendly as the later front enginded cars. These things are GT cars rather than outright Sports racers so the front engined layout is a better choice for the design purpose.

As a bit of a side note when Enzo Ferrari bulit his first mid-engined racing GT the 250LM, he initially wouldn't sell them to privateer racers because he deemed them to be too dangerous for anybody but professional drivers. A bit later down the track (1973) they introduced mid engined V12's with the 365 Berlinetta Boxer, and they and all of their successors were tricky when pushed to the limit.
