I have to agree with FF.

If you are prepeard to spend money on R tyres to make up a few seconds a lap, then if the wing has a benefit you should use it or try it at least.

Ugly or not is another thing.  I do recall you with your PC PP at PI, looking at data etc.  Lap times were obviously what you were chasing (unless you were looking at www.bom.com.au lol.)  so perhaps you should have a go with the wing just to see what the benefit is.

I know I spent a fortune on trying to pick up tenths of a second here and there.  Anyway thats my 5 cents.  Lets see if I go -20. :D

well you see....that's what happens when you come late to the party.

i don't think you'll see anywhere that i said it wasn't functional and i don't think i said anywhere that i wasn't trying to make my car go as fast as i could.

what i DID say is that the wing is ugly, and i wouldn't put it on my car just to get a better lap time.

if i ever make a post that you actually comprehend i reckon i'll fall off my chair.

But isn't that what's it's all about with you???

You do seem to compare yourself to everyone else and how fast you are and how slow everyone else is, eg JM at the rally letting the 355CH's down.  You quoted your theoretical lap time at EC based on comparible times at PI etc.  With the wing you would be super fast.  :D

man...there's something wrong with you.

i JUST said i want to go as fast as i can go in my car BUT not at the expense of making it look like a hotted up honda civic. i AGREE that a wing makes it go significantly faster, but NOT having it and still going faster than people who have it means my car is faster. that makes me feel good. like i said...i'm not racing against anyone but me and comparing my previous lap time with my latest. what does putting a wing on achieve for me and my abilities? nothing....i might have forgotten to say it's ugly, and that i'd rather go slower than put one on my car.

of course i'd expect you to agree with FF anyway...if he had my balls in his hands i'd agree with him too. he's gone off on a tangent about safety and me lying (of course) about what JR said and blah blah...nothing to do with anything.

the thing is, what are you agreeing with? your posts make no sense. again, the wing is ugly, it spoils the lines at the rear of the car, and i'd rather go slower than i could with the wing than put one on my car.

comprehend yet?

let me put it yet another way......a 355 is considered by many to  be one of the cleanest and most beautiful designs to come out of ferrari for years. penned by the people who have made some of the most beautiful cars ever...so some aerodynamicist (sp) designs a wing to make the car go faster and plonks it on the back. i mean really......it was never going to do anything apart from make the car look less beautiful.

Well first of all I will say I'm happy that I'm still at -8. :D

I think you missed my point as well.  Does that mean we miss each other???

I don't get into all the detail between you and FF.  Its too much for simple old me.  I was just saying I agreed that the the wing is another improvemnet just like the tryes.  As I said ugly or not who cares.  I was commenting on the fact that a wing obviously does give you some beneift in lap times when driven to the limit.  So as FF said if you are prepared to spend money on tyres for an improvement in lap times then spending money on a/the wing is the same.

ummmmmmm....me? sorry...i thought i'd made that quite clear. obviously not.

errrr..no, it's not.

spending money on tyres will not make the car UGLY *sigh*

i must have a problem with expressing myself....people just CAN'T be that stupid otherwise.......can they?

so, peepee... why do you have a 355C and not a berlinetta...

you've softened your car to well below 355C spring rates (more than std car, but easy to do either way)

You don't get the brakes hot enough

you don't even track it

you don't use the aero advantage available to you

you dont do anything with it to need the extra cooling

you dont use the cage

why bother?

Why not have a nice berlinetta with sound insulation and pretty wheels, rather than that noisy thing with arguably ugly ricer wheels?

can the spoiler be fitted and removed easily or does it requite permenant fixture?

When I had my 355 Challenge I fitted the full 1998 Challenge kit to it. The car is now in the care of JM in WA and it is the only 355C here with every single option. The wing..................... I reckon it's ugly; but I wanted the extra performance as I was heavily into track days at the time. So I bought a complete extra rear deck with all the fittings and put the wing on that. So I always had the option of driving the car with or without the wing as I chose.

It is quite easy to unbolt the wing; but as FF mentioned, it leaves 4 great ugly holes in the rear deck.

I still have a complete 355 deck with all fittings and a set of road shocks/springs if anyone happens to be interested.

Where did your wing go?

Have you tried Peepee for the springs/shocks..

He doesn't need his challenge parts.

TOTAL WOFTAM modifying anything unless you are capable of driving the car flat out for 5 consecutive laps with a lap time variation of circa 0.1 seconds between fastest and slowest laps. If you can't -and few
non professional drivers can, then you are not going to notice the effect of any modifications to any meaningful level.

Of course, I have ignored this fact just as much as anyone else out there- 'cause it's fun :)

The wing and spare deck went with the car when I sold it to Ted Fregon. I kept the original deck and fittings and a bunch of other stuff that wasn't part of the deal. The only stuff left 10 years later is the deck and shocks.
