The wing..................... I reckon it's ugly

poor phil.

but I wanted the extra performance as I was heavily into track days at the time.

nothing wrong with that. it's just not for me...nothing wrong with that either.

i spose i could turbo it for the cost of the wing....and then wing or no wing, no one would catch me

and it wouldn't look ugly.

The wing and spare deck went with the car when I sold it to Ted Fregon. I kept the original deck and fittings and a bunch of other stuff that wasn't part of the deal. The only stuff left 10 years later is the deck and shocks.

0.05 secs difference per lap 360 ;)

Mate if I did everything that people recommended to my car to save time here and there, I'd finish the lap BEFORE I started it. :D

so, peepee... why do you have a 355C and not a berlinetta...

you've softened your car to well below 355C spring rates (more than std car, but easy to do either way)

You don't get the brakes hot enough

you don't even track it

you don't use the aero advantage available to you

you dont do anything with it to need the extra cooling

you dont use the cage

why bother?

Why not have a nice berlinetta with sound insulation and pretty wheels, rather than that noisy thing with arguably ugly ricer wheels?

i have time after all.

challenge spec springs are too hard.

softening them 30% on the front was the most suitable for me.

Now they're progressive springs which max out at ch spec -60% at the front and ch spec - 40% rear

i've had the car 10 years. i haven't tracked it for one of those years while it's been running.

i get exactly the same lap time with all 4 sets of the springs i have. probably because my driving sucks, as i keep saying.

even when i DID track it, 90% of the time the car is on the road. so...the soft springs....same lap time, much better on the road. no down side for me...no brainer. incidentally, the ride is MUCH MUCH firmer than a standard car....just the way i like it (but within reason)

i CAN'T get the brakes hot enough.....but the brakes were the most important reason for me buying it.

What sort of idiot would drive their 355ch on the road with the cage in it?

i don't like the wing...it's ugly....and having it wouldn't make driving it any more fun. for me, again, no downside in not having it....just positives.

i love the noise.

i love the wheels.

whether or not i track it again....we will see.....i might do an occaional piarc day or maserati sandown day. :)

but even if i don't, guess what?? i own a 355CH.

and i love it.

and now that i've spent a few bucks on it, it's the best 355ch in Aus...maybe the world!:)

Anyway back on topic, I do agree the wing is ugly on the 355.  I do however think the wing looks good on the 360 and 430.

I agree with both points.  I didn't know we had to take sides.

then you can't say you agree with FF one night and you agree with me the next.

what you MEANT, then, is you agree with both of us because we both make valid points that you agree with.

however, FF is wrong because he's trying to tell me what i should like and why i should like it.

i'm right, because i'm me...so if i say i don't want the wing on my car because it's ugly, and i don't care if i go slower because of it, then that's the end of it.

the rest was just phil being phil...clearly he has a car for sale with a wing.

You have had it 10 years. You obviously love it; but how long do you reckon you will keep it for now? I loved my 355 Challenge as you know. I even wondered if I should buy it back the last time it hit the market; but I didn't.
I am still tempted; but I have such fond memories of that car that I wouldn't want to buy it back and find life and the game has moved on. I think I would rather remember it the way it was back in 1999.

well...it's still great to drive compared to anything else i've driven. it's still faster than i am. it still looks and sounds FANTASTIC...if i got sick of owning ferraris, i think it would be the last one to go.

but...i never say never.

Can someone explain the reasons a 355c can be registered
i understand why a 360c or a 430c cant be registered, but why is it theres no problem with the 355... was it basically just an options package of suspension/wheels/wing etc...
