I like reading about guys like that, he's gone completely mental, way, way, way OTT. Makes me look positively sane in comparison
Unfortunately he seems to be a bit delusional and is perhaps being steered into a very, very, very expensive restoration by his choice of shop and obvious OTT enthusiasm. Never seen that happen before
A few examples:
He seems to be under the impression that an F40LM can perform limited street use. I wonder if he has ever had a ride in a full Monty race car before? I've seen about 4 or 5x F40LM's and F40GTE's in the pits and circuits of various Oz race tracks. Driven plenty of dedicated race cars too. No way in hell you are going to be able to drive this one down to the pub for a pint on a Sunday afternoon.
Then he wonders about the need to fit cooling fans for the radiators WTF? You can't even roll around the pits without the fluids quickly reaching critical temps with no air flow.................and he wants to street drive it???????
The last obsession with the 100 point restoration of the undersurface of the sacrificial front carbon splitter is just plain odd. It's going to get hammered the first track outing...........or destroyed down the first street driveway.
I admire the passion; but somebody is enjoying taking this guys money.
BTW there is no race series that this car can run in. That limits any potential for capital gains.
I've got a few pics of one of the Australian F40GTE's undergoing a sensible birthday refresh. I think it is now owned by the guy who owns my old F50.
