Remember once upon a time Dino's were considered not real Ferrari's and weren't valued like today.

Heh, I quoted one of the original advertisements for the Dino 246 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnEFZdwGtP0#t=685

"Almost a Ferrari"

F50 sounded unreal.

I don't think either car had a standard exhaust.

The F50 clearly had the standard exhaust rear boxes which would be the first thing to change. I suspect it had the full standard system.
The F40 seemed to have one version of the tubi exhausts.

My F50 never under steered like that example, so I suspect it had set up issues and/or old tyres.
That's the trouble with doing tests on 20+ year old cars, so much is dependent on the individual example tested.
Having said that, it was by far the best comparative video of the two that I have seen.

It was interesting to see that he thought it was so much faster than the F40, tune and set up can make so much difference. If the F50 didn't under steer and he could keep the power on he might not of felt that the F40 was so much faster over all. In that Japanese race video that the F50 won over the F40 it didnt show much difference in track speed between both cars. It's a pity that those Japanese race challenge videos cant be trusted to be accurate.

.

It did??? It sounded far too noisy to be standard, I thought.

Definitely

When did you drive it as fast as that and not on "R" spec tyres? Both these cars were on road tyres.

I love my car. Buy your own

Also, ignoring the handling, Chris was amazed that the F50 was holding up the F40 down the straights. It came as no surprise to me though. .... turbos are awesome!

An OK vid only for me.  We are talking cars that have been driven by many and talked about to death.  We already know the F40 is quicker and prettier than the F50. The only new thing for me was that an owner wanted Chris to drive his cars sideways. Self-validation perhaps?  I hope he got new tyres out of the deal (or something) at least.

I'm with Ash on the sound - it lacked excitement somehow. Given they had enough budget to hire a chopper to do the aerial shots, I'm wondering why they didn't get this right.  The EVO supercar test nailed it for production values by comparison but maybe they have more money to throw at it.  Anyway, this is nit-picking. Harris still deserves all the man love he's getting.

I think the aerials were done with a drone.

Why is he wearing driving gloves and a t shirt ?

Gloves are recommended with Alcantara steering wheels due to sweat absorption.  I'm guessing the owner politely insisted on it.
