Did you do some biz with him before he retired?

I think he was referring to the restauranter he thought may have purchased it?  I read it that way anyway.

My guy was a guest at Lenzerheide, not the restaurateur.  He took his wife there and the car was wrapped in a ribbon outside.

I've had a bad experience myself at that joint. A senior exec from the wine industry was retiring and a coupe of us took him to lunch as he'd been a great client. The wine guy brought along a special bottle from the company cellar - worth many hundreds of dollars.  The proprietor said he wouldn't open it - "we don't do BYO".  I thought he was stupid - he could have charged us $50 corkage and everyone would have been happy but he dug his heels in and spoiled the experience for everyone.

Yep, you and I are thinking of the same guy.  But in post 6 NSX thought it was purchased by a restauranter who he didn't think much of.  I had the impression you thought NSX was referring to your guy.  I see NSX cleared it up anyway.
