Crazy pricing.

from the article:
A super rare Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale from 1965 will be auctioned on August 16, 2014.

The Italian classic vehicle is set to be offered during the RM Auctions Monterey event, which kicks off on 15 August. Expected to fetch at least 25M EUR ($34 M), this Ferrari could become the most expensive ever sold, outshining the 275 GTB/4 NART Spider that was sold for 20M EUR ($27 M) in 2013.

Not crazy at all if you know the story behind the so called "1965 GTO". They were a cheater car built by Ferrari in an attempt to get around the requirement to build a certain number of production versions in order for the model to be homologated for racing. They claimed a relationship to the 275 production cars, where virtually nothing was the same between them. They are uber, uber rare and all are different.
If Preston Henn's car ever hit the market it would set a new world record price for the most expensive car sold.

Michael Sheehan did a great article on these years ago. I'll dig around later and see if I can find it.

Shit load of 275s to be auctioned at Monterey, will be interesting to see the different premiums paid for vehicles including the 275 GTB Competizione Clienti at Rick Coles as well as the ex-McQueen car.

A 250 GTO also being auctioned. That'll go for more than the 275 I reckon.

Yes it will because it's one of the ones with good provenance, despite the fatal accident when new.  Part of the premium on 250 GTO's is they are the ultimate ticket to "The real big dick swingers club". Not to mention you would get invited to literally any of the great events worldwide, including the real prize, the 250 GTO tour.

If it was Preston Henn's yellow 275 I wouldn't bet against it achieving a higher sale value. He allegedly turned down $30 million some years ago.
