Ferrari  458 GT2, or GTC if you like, is the GT version of the 458 Italia road car which will replace the current 430 GT models in various endurance  series this season. It is certainly very advanced technically, but we are more interested in the way it looks! This is by far and away the coolest race car of 2011 season, even cooler better than the SLS GT3.

The GT racer version of the Ferrari 458 Italia will be available in GT2 and GT3 formats, so it can have from 470 to 600 horsepower. It also gets a Hewland six-speed sequential transmission instead of the standard car’s seven-speed dual-clutch. One other difference over the 45 Challenge will be the wheel size, as GT2 sports 18? rather than 19?. It is also slightly heavier than the Challenge, but then it has beter aerodynamics.

Here’s a few more pictures of this amazing car which is yet to make its public debut, enjoy.

Looks awesome! Apart from the ugly faded plastic/goldy/yellowish look of the lights.

what is the aerodynamic point of those bonnet inserts, they seem to be on most gt spec cars
All I can see them doing is distrubing the airflow over the windscreen, but why would you want to do that?

I think it's for enabling extra airflow through the front splitter/radiator = more cooling and downforce.

the lights are amber tinted... a french rule that actually works, less glare and better night vision.

yes, the vents let out the hot air from the radiator/s, and reduce front lift significantly.

Its got a bit of an old school look going.
Wheels style, plain side profile (lack of air intakes compared to 360 / 430) angled nose.

Further i wonder how many more of these GT2/GT3 cars will be built. Seems the economical way of developing the cars.
The Gt2 Lambo's are getting a second life in the ALMS this year
