It's mostly Aluminium.

If the whole thing melted like that makes you wonder how you would fare in a decent crash

well, the clever structural impact energy absorbing design will make you survive the impact, just so you can feel the fire burn you slowly....

2010 Ferrari 458 Italia
Description:
Witness saw the driver playing with Magneto switch trying to show off to female passenger. Then entered round about and planted it, the back came around before he even reacted, and he hit the barrier that stops cars falling onto the below carraige way, spun around and came to a hault.

Quote
THIS brand new 150,000 Ferrari faces being broken up and sold for scrap after its driver crashed in the rain.

The black 458 Italia was badly crushed after the driver lost control and smashed into a barrier in Marlow, Bucks. The car - which goes from 0 to 62mph in 3.4 seconds - was on loan from a club.

Ferrari launched the model only last year. A witness said: "This one is only good for parts now. It's a sad sight for any car enthusiast."
