Thanks to a lack of security at the Geneva PalExpo Centre these images of a Ferrari 599XX are out in the open for everyone's enjoyment less than 24 hours before Ferrari is supposed to officially uncover the car. As can be seen in the pics the F60 F1 challenger will be shown in the same event. Details are understandably quite scarce at the moment but the 599XX is set to be the most extreme 599 GTB Fiorano ever seen. We wouldn't be surprised if Michael Schumacher was extensively involved in its development.

It will apply Ferrari's F1 know-how as well as lightweight construction to enhance performance in every way. We see that massive rear diffuser, the small rear wing made of what looks like carbon fiber, and a dark roof. Side wings appear to stick out from the C pillar, the dark wheels sport big Ferrari brakes and the tyres are quite slick.

Ferrari is expected to produce the 599XX in very limited numbers, possibly for faithful Ferrari owners who will be hand-picked from an already small pool. By afternoon on the 3rd of March all details and pictures regarding the 599XX will be posted on WCF.

The doors to the 2009 Geneva Motor Show have yet to be officially flung open, but images have already begun emanating from the Geneva PalExpo center. The latest come courtesy of Asphalte.ch who are right now running around the show floor and taking pictures of everything that's not covered up. These are of the Ferrari 599XX and directly responsible for the pool of drool at my feet right now. Based on the 599 GTB Fiorana, the 599XX features the latest application of Ferrari's extensive research in F1 racing to a road going car. It's clear on looks alone that the 599XX will be the most extreme version of this car to come from Maranello, and we don't even know what's been changed beneath its skin.

Like the Enzo FXX, we expect that the 599XX will be made in extremely limited numbers and sold only to faithful Ferrari owners hand-selected by the company to become Client Test Drivers. We'll have official specifications of the 599XX for you tomorrow, along with our own gallery of high-res live shots. Until then, take a gander at the gallery below and visit Asphalte.ch for more detail shots.

The new 599 GTB Fiorano Handling GTE Package and the world preview of the 'laboratorio tecnologico' 599XX

Maranello, 27th February 2009 – The 79th Geneva International Motor Show provides the venue for Ferrari to announce two new pieces of good news: the arrival of the sporty, dynamic Handling GT Evoluzione (HGTE) Package for the 599 GTB Fiorano and the world debut of the 599XX which is a technological laboratory aimed at a select group of clients. The latter new car incorporates the most advanced technologies resulting from Ferrari's road-going and F1 research. Many of the technological solutions it carries are being used for the first time and have been developed exclusively for this special car.

The two new arrivals will be introduced to the international media by Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo on the opening day of the Show, March 3rd, at 10 am.

In addition to the 599 GTB Fiorano equipped with the Handling GTE package and finished in a new three-layer metallic Rosso, and the 599XX in a colour matching the F2008, Ferrari clients and enthusiasts will also be able to admire this single-seater that recently won the Prancing Horse its 16th Constructors' World title. On the stand there will also be the full range of Ferrari road cars: the Scuderia Spider 16M in a Grigio Titanio livery, the 430 Scuderia in Rosso Corsa and two Grand Tourer models, the Ferrari California in Nero Metallizzato with a Sabbia interior and the flagship 612 Scaglietti. The latter will be displayed in the Atelier, a dedicated area where owners can get a taste of the virtually endless personalisation options on offer to them.

That's a slightly disturbing look for a GT.

Interesting…. Was never a fan of the design of the 599 when it first came out… but now I think I really like this!

Ferrari 599XX: $2m racer by invitation only

Calling all Michael Schumacher clones as Italian supercar maker launches special 599 mobile test lab at 2009 Geneva motor show.
The Ferrari 599XX is for sale by invitation only and Ferrari refuses to disclose the price, which is rumoured to be well in excess of $2 million.

Ferrari will ask a select group of about 30 current Ferrari owners to act as pseudo test drivers, putting the 599XX through its paces on race tracks around the globe.

There are a couple of catches, though. The car can only be driven at Ferrari-organised test days and the drivers have to buy their car when the program ends.

In return, they get what Ferrari describes as a mobile “technological laboratory”, with a range of F1-inspired innovations in aerodynamics and electronic driver aids.

The engine, which is based on that in the 599 GTB, has had a bit of work as well and is good for 515kW.

For those that aren’t on the invitation list, Ferrari also has a new version of its flagship 599 GTB Fiorano, with a “Handling GT Evoluzione package” that includes lower and stiffened suspension, a louder exhaust and new wheels.
