the weirdest thing is that the 599 is a bloody sensational car, and there's plenty of life left in it with minor evolution, so why they're building a whole new car seems odd..

there must be more to it, and I'll take a wild guess and say they're preparing for KERS technology....

but I, of course, know nothing, just ask anyone........  :tilt:

Once again, we have caught Ferrari's 599 GTB Fiorano replacement testing out in the open, but unlike the previous test mule we captured on film wearing the current model's body panels, this one is a prototype of the final production model.

The next 599 GTB, which is currently known only by its internal F152 codename, will compete against the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. It is scheduled to be revealed at the 2012 edition of the Geneva Salon in March, with sales to follow later in the year.

Back to our scoop photos, Ferrari's engineers made sure that we couldn't see the details of its new top supercar as the prototype was craftily covered in a puffy suite. However, the front-engine arrangement and long nose are clearly visible while we also get a peek of the deeply mounted LED tail lamps.

We expect that the next 599 will borrow certain styling elements from both the 458 Italia and the FF GT.

Even though the new Ferrari flagship model will use an alloy monocoque body and not carbonfibre like the future Enzo succesor, it will be lighter than the model it replaces.

Power will come courtesy of a modified version of the new FF's 6.3-liter V12 with direct-injection technology. In recent interviews, Ferrari boss Amedeo Felisa indicated that the 12-cylinder unit would deliver more than 700-horses, thus not only surpassing the 599 GTB's 612HP, but also the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, which is rated at 700HP.

A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will handle the transfer of power to the rear-wheels, while an array of electronics will oversee the handling.

Think they may have gone too far with the Air Bags. Safety and Fun Police are getting at everything.

Worse part is someone has to zip up the door behind you and unzip it so you can get out...The Valets at Crown will be looking for extra tips.

Definately.
This stunt just got them free advertising in all mags and forums around the world.

This was not a test drive it was a marketing stunt.
