Ferrari fans should head down to PI this weekend.

There are numerous Ferraris running in regularity (Hi B2 ;) ) and Grp Sc etc, but the stand out star of the show is the very very special Tipo 500 F2, chassis no.5

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_Tipo_500

This is THE car that Alberto Ascari won Ferraris FIRST world Championship with, in 1952.

It's here as part of the 60 year celebrations of the event.

It has been beautifully restored and is in race ready condition. Take your parents/kids/grands, this might be the only time they get to see one of Ferrari Holy Grail cars.

It'll also be at the AGP, but then it flies off into the sunset.

That's a real work of art that car  it is sensational looking. (Not sure why there is a blue R2D2 on the front though?)
It puts the lotion on its skin, or it gets the hose again.

Here with owner Kevin Wheatcroft (Donnington owner) and Rick Hall driving, who restored it.

Not sure how many people realise how special this car is....

A flyer  from a function, and my wife chatted to Tony Gaze and got his autograph, lovely chap, what a life!

As Phil mentioned it's a Tipo 500 F2. This particular car is regarded as the single most successful chassis in grand prix history.
