I'll get some photos organised. It arrives next Friday and then going straight in for a cam belt service...to be sure..to be sure.  BTW does anyone know how many Testarossa's in Australia.  I understand Ferrari enthusiasts either love them or hate them. For me its always been the dream car i first saw as a 21 year old. The main reason why i chose the Testarossa over a 348 or 355 was that i thought that it was good value for money  and saw the prices beginning to increase substantially in the UK. The 348 and 355 would probably be better cars. Final question which i am sure someone will know. If a V12 does a cam belt, will it bend the valves or is there enough clearance?
there is no tolerance, err on the side of caution, the cam belt if broken will do a good job on your bank balance.

to drop an engine and do the cam belts and adjust tappets should be about 8 hours out 2 for the job and 8 hours in. My first "service" on mine cost 6k then after 3 years i had my own tech's do it, total cost $800.00, amazing when you dont have to pay "rape without violence" labour rates. When you consider that these cars are made in factory where humans did the work then a human can repair it, dont fall for the "it needs a Ferrari expert" notion, a good mechanic could do the job, the manual from Ferrari goes through step by step on the removal and repair. Too many Ferrari owners think that a specialist is required, hence the hike in rates. Use your head and gut feel.

The TR is a good car and a comfortable cruiser of GT style, a 348 is akin to the 400i (piece of shit) the 355 is a way better car, costly though for the belt job because whoever designed the engine/ car was taking LSD at the time.
You really cannot compare the 355 to the TR, both different and both have their advantages and disadvantages.

hmmmm.... if there is anyone out there that can do a complete service coupon belts and tappet job in that time... please apply to me immediately.

and WTF re 355/TR belt job... the 355 is easier and quicker through better engine/subframe design.

would you like to see the time clock sheet,

yep, I would. I keep all mine and show them too.

... and have you read the service coupon... do you know what needs to be done on a full major service...

18 hours for a full major inc tappet adjust and all coupon items is a joke...

in fact, it's un sustainable.

You CAN do belt only in that time though.... just not the full coupon items.

I only use the computer at home... I don't even have one in the shop... FYI.

Yes, racism is alive and well. I witness it frequently.

You need a cuddle.

Hi Guys,  My 88 Testarossa finally arrived in Melbourne 4 weeks ago and it has been sitting the corner of a a Ferrari Specialist's workshop untouched since then.

It needs to be engineered and serviced including a new clutch.  I am getting extremely pissed at the "lack of service" and lack of having phone calls returned.

I am not mentioning any names, but would like suggestions as to who else in Melbourne is reputable to arrange engineering and service and will not piss me off.

You would think that as a new customer I would given a little love and attention so that my ongoing loyalty will be gained.

The pain of owning a Ferrari is beginning to outweigh the pleasures. I am seriously considering selling it as is!

i've had fantastic results and service with Black Stallion in Ringwood. ph 9873 0308 for a few years now.

however, they ARE busy at the moment, so it may not solve your immediate problem....but worth the call.

I love my car. Buy your own
