THRISSUR: Muhammad Nisham makes it clear that he fully respects the law but right now the eager father in him trumps the conscientious citizen.

After a video of 10-year-old Ishaan Nisham driving a Ferrari F430 on his birthday went viral on YouTube the cyber cell of Kerala Police police registered a complaint against Nisham under Motor Vehicles Act and section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

But Nisham is undeterred and, acceding to Ishaan's wish, plans to let him race the new Lamborghini he has bought on the deserted roads outside his tobacco factory in Thirunelvelli in Tamil Nadu.

"We did not expect this kind of furore after we uploaded that video on YouTube. Anyway, unlike in Kerala, I don't think there should be any problem for a boy to try out a car in other states, especially when we ensure that it is done with utmost safety," he says.

Ishaan has passion for fast cars, and Nisham wants to do everything to encourage his precocious son, who started driving at a very early age and first took out a Ferrari - albeit within a 1 km distance of their home - when he was nine.

Confessing that he wants to see Ishaan make it as a successful Formula One driver, Nisham has detailed plans to groom him in this respect.

Nisham remembers his own childhood days in Thrissur when he saw a neighbourhood boy, escorted by the police, drive a Maruti 800 around even as the local people applauded the feat.

Currently, Nisham has a collection of five luxury cars and he wants his son to make the best use of them before he comes of age and hopefully goes on to become a speed demon.

I've seen how the system works over there. Nothing will happen in the end, guaranteed.
The guy is obviously wealthy and is almost certainly well connected enough to make it go away once all the furore has died down.

You sure can. Friend of mine in India owns a soccer team, they signed some guy who then left the country with his signing bonus and went to play in Italy. My mate wasn't impressed, so being well connected, organised a flag on his passport. As soon as he re-entered the country, they detained him an called my friend to head to the airport to collect his player.
