id assume the gt3 is pretty brutal with the shifts? not using a clutch for gear changes, does this effect longevity of the clutch, and gearbox?

the clutch??? It saves wear and tear, cos it don't get used!

the system unloads torque with a FBW throttle lift on upshifts, but it is still quite harsh, yes. The box is designed to take this though.

On down shifts, it again blips the throttle to unload decel' torque....

Watch a left foot braker like greg Murphy drive a v8 super car.... he doesn't use clutch up or down.....

road cars have about 36 or more little dogs to engage a gear.... these are tiny and weak. If you crunch a gear in a road car, the grinding you hear are all the little dogs.... NOT the actual gear.

A race car has maybe 5 or 6 dogs only... these are 5 or 6 times as big as road car dogs. If you grind a race dog box, it'll hurt.

Then leave it that way, as disconcerting as it is to have Ferrari not offer manuals I'd rather a good paddle system over a compromised system that lets you feel like its manual without being manual.

I'm not sure if you're really that stupid, or just trying to appear that way (doing a good job)....

The synthetic shift would still have the paddles installed, and remain functional, it's just an alternative to use if you feel the urge.... the extra physical exertion of shifting is part of a great driving experience, for some.

Just saying a lever is a useless and pointless addition, paddles are fine.

I can't see anyone buying some sort of kit that just gives them a lever, and if they did i'd have to wonder why

so write to BMW and VW and tell them to remove their lever.

this talk of fake padles and shit is stupid!!

why not have both padles AND stick shift and let the people decide?? it's worked all this time :tilt:

sure it depends on what the buyers want, but when it comes to ferrari's and customers are paying in excess of 500g's and everyone is customised in someway, why remove the option?? how expensive can it be to produce them??
