Merc had a 7 speed box and truckloads of torque, seemed a lot faster than 0-100 in 6 sec.

It depends what you're after.

Dodgy is happy driving a commodore, he just wants it to look like a maza. So the slusho is fine.

The clunkojerkomatic is what he had with the 4200. Better in a GT for sure, but still not a traffic cruiser.

I'm neither helping nor hurting mm. Theres other slushos out there.

Just tuggin' your leash  ;)

The paddle pop in the 4.7ltr is recent technology, same as in later 599's and only a little slower than a Scuderia. In auto mode it really is pretty good and certainly nowhere near as old tech as a 4200. I was more than happy to use my 4.7 ltr in auto mode in heavy traffic, did the job just fine.

Having owned both, there is no way in the world I would have the 4.2ltr auto in preference to the paddle pop 4.7 ltr.

That's not really quick. Even a 2500 kg X5M will do it in 4.9 seconds. The big AMG 4wd is the same. Lighting the wick on a block of flats and hanging on for dear life is fun :)

I know it isn't quick but it felt like it for some reason, every time I did a hard accelleration anyone in the car drew breath even my mate the mad ex courier driver who really knows how to drive.

Getting another auto sedan doesnt really excite me.

There is nothing at any price that does the job for the daily driving I do any better, or even as good as, the Commodore, unfortunately.

I'll break out just for fun one day......but not yet.

Frankly if I had the choice of anything I still wouldnt know what to buy, I'm probably better back in a Merc when I change again.

An exotic would just sit in the garage.

The E500 7-speed is a good car but not entirely sporty. 6-sec for a non-AMG Merc sedan does feel quick but against anything remotely sporty it is way off the pace.

It felt about as fast as the 4200 which does it in 4.8, well almost, probaly felt as fast as there was no drama, it just rocketed, the body seemed to warp, it just grabbed the road, I'd have one again, W211,  but they're getting on now, the W112 is just that much larger, just getting too big for my liking.

unless $30-50K meant anything, I'd agree...

I'd like to see Dodgy in an exotic again, I know he'd enjoy it.

But unfortunately, I think Dodgy would be just as happy in a Chrysler Crossfire (serious suggestion).

Buy it Dodgy.... buy it buy it....

Think of the savings, some bright spark paid $300k for that, it's no different now, and only $75k!
