with out knowing the facts bad luck hope it all gets resolved quickly

I remember a so called mechanic (who frequents this site, coincidentally) saying he felt it was his duty, his right and his responsibility to test customers' cars properly by including a road test where 'hard driving' was an essential aspect.

Personally, I don't agree.

If I found any mechanic who felt the same about my car (without my permission) would find out what an arsehole I can be.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. "

I'd say it is 100% essential that a car is serviced and tested as per the manufacturers guidelines, and in a manner to which the car is expected to be used.

Anything less, is not doing the job properly.

Testing it beyond the expected use conditions is unnecessary, and probably illegal.
