Hi all,

I am a new owner of an UK import 360, just curious about the odometer in my car, apparently it works on miles rather km as I can tell and the reading hasn't been changed since it is imported to Oz. It did pass the compliance and Km/h decal scale has been fitted though, but isn't the compliance workshop also supposed to convert the odometer to KM reading? If not, is it possible to convert it to Km? Anyone has similar experience?

Many thanks,

I'm not sure about the regulations, I thought everything was to be KPH for Raws compliance? but i've seen more and more places not bothering to change it . As far as I am aware, I thought it was something simple as flicking a switch somewhere or connecting the diagnostic tool to read out KPH in the mileage display?
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

The ECU will just spit out pulses which the speedo will then convert to whatever.  New speedos have to be programmed once fitted so that they sync up with the ECU pulse output.  There's nothing to do with the ECU -  it's all about what speedo is fitted.  I put a VDO 300kph speedo in (when I brought my car back from the UK)  and by the manual, programmed the speedo for 4000 pulses per KM.  very simple 2 minute process.
I've been rich & I've been poor...

Many thanks for the input, I may have to check with the official dealer to see what they think.

Cheers

They won't know the rules, they will just say whatever they do is the right way. It will never get caught anyway so why bother with it? Keep it in miles and your car looks like its done less mileage lol. As long as the speedo is in km then you will be fine.

If you do want to find out for sure, contact your roads authority or get in contact with the rawe government department.

Either way it doesn't mean much

Bloody dodgy shit!!!

It should all be in Kms. Which means a new speedo should be fitted. In some rare cases the speedo will do both with the flick of a switch.
