Why is that? You living in the 18th century Dodger? It is only an email or a phone call over seas to the place where the cars log books say it was maintained at.

Yeah I thought of that after I posted it, but even then unless it's a dealer, who the hell knows what Freds Motors in London is ? If it was somone here you could local enquiries easier.

For an import, you may not get top dollar when u sell it, but you probably didn't pay top dollar when u bought it either. The net loss on ownership is probably the same

It's more.

You may get it slightly cheaper, on 'competitive' cars like 360's you get SMASHED on resale.

I'd weep if I wanted to trade/sell mine.
C'mon, do it!

 Ahh mate no one is holding a gun at your head to buy a car that was sold by "freds garage", if you are worried by that then only look at buying one that has been sold by one of the many Ferrari dealerships in the UK.

Who really cares where you bought the car from, as far as we are talking about in this example, long as the maintenance has a paper and electronic record comming from a trustworthy workshop or from one of the dealers, then all should be sweet.

You sold your 4200 privately didn't you? I'd assume your car had a complete history at Zagames and at Phills, just because you sold it privately or you gave it to a random dealer to sell it doesn't make it any less of a decent car does it?
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

I was only thinking of a car that wasn't servced at a dealer, perhaps serviced properly but it's difficult to confirm that from a distance.

Have it towed.

Get it home, drive it locally for a while and get it to your chosen mechanic to sort out the little issues it has (they all do), then, once you have it sorted, THEN go for a longer drive.... one to remember for the right reasons.

Patience is a virtue.

I'm not sure there's anyone with an SD2 in canberra, so maybe get it sorted in Melb or Syd before you take it home.

Not sure if he has one but there is an advertised Ferrari specialist in Mitchell.

If you need a stop off on the drive, I am in Gungahlin.  :D

Are you not factoring in the depreciation while you've owned it....

I agree with kebabs... the net loss is ROUGHLY the same in my experience...

It's just that for the  "X" years you've owned it, and flogged it tround the track, and worn it out, it's now "X" years older, and worth less.

I've seen more and more import cars lately, and it's starting to get tedious. I'm simply not able to cope with cars that come in for X, Y and Z, and an inspection, and then they need a dozen other things as a result of the report findings.

It seems to happen to almost all of them. It's nice that the customers WANT to sort out their cars, but it all takes time.

I guess I should stop queue jumping the cars I "think" might be in and out quickly!
