It's been a while since I had anything to do with them; but I thought only the 512m had the lowered engine/gearbox?
The High Centre of Gravity and all that weight hanging out past the rear wheels was the main issue with these cars.
Have a close look at one, the back 4 cylinders and the clutch are past the centre line of the rear wheels. Makes for terrifying on the limit roll oversteer, especially in the wet.

All TR had the lower engine, they also DONT Have the drop out subframe like a trossa. You lift the engine out like a boxer on all TR and M.

Trossa also have k jet injection, or KE. The other big step came with TR that got Motronic.

nah, just need a decent chassis on 'em, they're great... heres a 512TR power unit removed for service

It's only the last 2 cylinders that are behind the wheel centre line.

Trossa run koni shocks, which are pretty average, but TR and M use Bilstein, which when working correctly are much better.
