Testarossa (often incorrectly shortened to TR).. 1984 to 1991 (5 variants)
512TR (correctly shortened to TR) 1991 to 94 (3 variants)
F512M (M) 94-96 (all same)

all very similar in appearance.

Probably needs another thread but what is the badge on the Testarossa if the 512TR is what it is.

Are there any differences in the looks?

One has one mirror right?

No, for the purpose of THIS conversation, you did those miles in a Trossa....

I drove a 512 TR at Mugello in late 1994. Lots of laps over 2 days told me all I needed to know.
A tweak here and there, a small nip tuck and all the same problems as before.

Early Testarossa had one mirror then they were given 2 mirrors. There are many mechanical and body/interior differences between Testarossa/ 512tr and 512M. My dad had a 512M here is the photo

Yeah, the massive difference between trossa and tr is in build quality and interior environment. Performance and handling is all similarly so so across the model range.

They're straight line long distance monsters, around corners or tracks they're all equally bad!

They're badged as I listed them.

But all have testarossa on the inlet plenum.

The 5 types of trossa are the most widely variable.

Best of them all is an abs equipped 512TR. Unless you like the look of a M.

Fair enough summary. The only one with any meaningful performance/ handling improvements is the 512M; but the looks are just odd. Change for the sake of it.

Looking at that front you'd have to say the change was meant to in some way match the change from the 348 to 355.

No, the M is the same mechanically as a TR. The only difference is that the  M has titanium conrods and revs a fraction harder.

TR and M both have the lower mounted engine and same suspension dynamics.
Early trossa wirh tubular control arms are just dire, later trossa with 16" wheels and pressed arms are better, but until the TR came with 18" wheels all trossa are poor in comparison... But a tr is still not great!
