why does a new car need a litre of engine oil
I was thinking the same. I did 4,000km in Europe in the Diablo and the oil levels were exactly the same at the end as they were at the start!
You make something idiotproof, they'll make a better idiot.

closest thing to using oil is my 246, being 40 plus years old it goes though about a litre every 4000 to 5000 km, a new car should not use or burn oil......
Meeting women on the Internet? Remember, the more similarities u “magically” have, & the more she agrees with u, the fucking crazier she is.

It's not new. It's done 2,000km. If it is the same as the Italia it will use less oil once it is run in.

High speed driving uses more oil than low speed.

Ferrari insist on adding a thickener to 599 due to blow by consumption.

In racing, a 458 will burn around a litre in 6 to 8 hours.

With no oil level gauge on the dashboard, I like to top mine up regularly to ensure it is never inadvertently low.

It seems to vary significantly from car to car.

I love my car. Buy your own

Source?

No it doesn't, not unless there are problems or differences. If all is equal, consumption is same.

Hi comp pistons used in 308 for example, have only 2 compression rings instead of three for std cars.

Oil used is the bigger influence on consumption, not individual car. I recently changed an owners preference by recommendation, and his consumption essentially stopped, frm needing a litre in ~1000 km, to needing none in ~5000.

Yes. So does the McLaren.

How do they work, and how accurate?
Do they give a reading before start up only, or all the time? And have you compared reading to actual measured?
