It was a prominent Ferrari service outlet that did it.

The brakes are Brembo... no Ferrari/Porsche/whatever brand knowledge is necessary for that part.

There was nothing to feel or hear by driving the car. The cracks were not misaligned axially, just radial cracks that have gone so far as to go over the edges and into the ventilation channel. They were easy to see though. In fact the normal pad chatter of the race calipers which have no spring loading on the pads may have masked any "ticking" from the cracks..but I doubt it.

FWIW, I modifed the pads all round to stop the chatter, as it's annoying to hear the little "tick tick" as the pads get brushed by the discs while cruising along.

sd always complained about that. i've never had it. obviously my car is too scared to annoy me.

either that or:-

1. i'm deaf
2. the car's too noisy to notice it.

or your calipers are so dirty (no dust seals) that the pistons don't retract properly and are binding/dragging.

if you jack it up, do the wheels spin completely freely?

The pads are about 0.5-0.8 mm smaller than the slot in the caliper, and there are no anti rattle fitting as standard.

I split and moved this from another unrelated thread back in the first 3 or 4 posts when it looked like just being more crap-flinging - oddly enough sometimes crap threads turn out to be good ones :p  Moved back.

the front ones definitely do. surely you'd have checked it for yourself when you serviced it, right? it's not like they've STOPPED rattling....they've never done it.

i used to have rattles from the twin springs though, which i don't have now that i've installed the progressive single spring jobbies. maybe that's what your client's hearing. he's never tried the single softer springs to compare.
