If you have an accident, doesnt your insurance only pay for your personal injuries?

Really? News to me. Is that true?

I love my car. Buy your own

In NSW we have Green Slips which is compulsory insurance that covers for personal injury (it is connected directly to the people inside the car).

3rd party insurance generally covers damage to other cars and property (and sometimes fire)

Comprehensive covers the other car, property AND your own car.

Clear enough???? lol

ahh...maybe different states, different rules then.

AFAIK, TAC, which we pay for with our rego, covers all injuries that occur on the road or by vehicle trauma.

It covers the drivers and passengers of all cars involved, and includes hospital, ambulance etc too.

Anyone know if that's correct?

Vehicle insurance, in Victoria at least, doesn't cover injury, again AFAIK.

I love my car. Buy your own

correct, however regardless of what state in Aust.....all it takes is an exotic, smart ass lawyer, someone dead or worse injured and a court case, watch the insurance company fight until the death.

have IQ levels dropped, but anyone remember the 360 black that crashed in walkervile, still no pay out after what.....4 years

You could be right about the TAC (Green slip) covering all cars involved but all I know is if I get injured while driving I know me and my passengers are covered by my compulsory insurance at least.
Hopefully touch wood I never need to find out for sure what it covers.

That car went to auction and is now in Sydney, not sure if it's been repaired yet.

Really, you didnt know that? Maybe nothing covers you as a driver then. Maybe the insurance companies have slipped it out of the comprehensive policies and no one has noticed.
