I got my 360  heads today with cams, geez they are heavy. Good looking ports and they are finished off quite well for a production motor.

I got my 360  heads today with cams, geez they are heavy. Good looking ports and they are finished off quite well for a production motor.

They crack between the ports as standard. Don't try to open them out at all, they'll just crack earlier and worse.

If you think polishing them will help, well, it's been tried already, and it doesn't. In fact, the rougher the casting the better.

360 heads are an evolution of 355 heads, which were already good.

360s have bigger valves than 355s, and variable exhaust cam timing.

The only area of improvement in 360 and 355 top end, is to change the valves for better profile, use more aggressive cam profiles, and make the guides out of something other than shit.

And the cams are a prick to grind due to the compound angles of the lateral valves on intake side. You need to buy new cams, and they're double money and some more.

The ONLY way to get value out of modifiying a Ferrari engine, is to boost it.

Otherwise, it costs ~$1000 to gain each 1 single BHP.

I've built several 360 engines with between 440 and 470 BHP, and none were cost effective for either the owners or me.

You can't skim the heads much either.
