Hi, I often bring cars into Australia using only one person for Compliance, my question is do we have any people here that are in a position to become a RAW? If so would they be interested in a tie in if i fronted the costs?

For the record, No.

I'll do mechanical work for almost anyone, but I have no interest in obligations or any kind of egg/basket limitations and or arrangements.

Furthermore, I don't agree with the import of many of the cars that are coming here.... my import policy is one of "cars that are not here anyway, and/or were never officially sold here, OR the return of Australian cars that are overseas somewhere."

There are a huge amount of companies doing compliance in Australia. Agree with the above on importing cars also, in addition to bringing in rare models of cars.

I dont do half hearted business agreements, i'm a bit more professionall than that. I'm probably opening up a can of worms here, but whats the problem with imports here? Haven't a lot of guys on here got them already?

Don't take it personally Robert, the few opinions here are necessarily reflective of the whole board. My first Ferrari was a HK import, and at the time it being a bit cheaper than local got me into a car I'd dreamed of, and started the collection. From my side, I get a buzz every time i see a supercar on the road - i really couldn't give a toss how it got here.

Back to your topic - why are you looking for another partner to compliance with?
C'mon, do it!

Cheers! I dont have a partner at the minute. Basically what i do is buy the cars in the UK, ship them over, pay all the taxes etc, have the compliance work done and then put them with dealers to sell for me. I really want to buy into an established business and build from there.

Hey Al, who sevices your UBER 2??

I used a dealer and a guy closely associated to get the car running really strong, and for all the trackwork prep Corse up in Wetherill Park. They also fitted an expansion tank for the cooling system, which fixed trackday overheating. Smart guys. Give me a yell if you want an intro, they've got my 355 up there now.
C'mon, do it!

Makes sense if you feel that would let you differentiate through better service, or the chance for potential customers to see the car earlier in the process. Even better if they can see similar cars I suppose to close the deal on pre-purchase from there.

Don't think anyone thinks you are doing it half arsed...

For me, I have a customer base dominated by Aussie delivered cars, who mainly, rightly or wrongly, would like to see their cars' value protected as much as possible.

If UK cars, or imports generally, flood the market undercutting prices, then naturally, the aussie car market price will drop too.

So, in an effort to please the majority, I prefer to stick to importing cars that boost the market, rather than dilute it.

My business is workshop based Ferrari specialist, but I also do just about anything interesting or off the wall. I certainly don't want any kind of partner or even customer that would demand a lot of time and resources. Staff is the limiting factor, I have a small business with a couple of regular sub contractors to help me do the cars, but I do 75% of the output myself, and check 100% of it.

I wouldn't ever have it another way.

I can gladly accommodate occasional jobs here or there, but nothing regular or pressured or that requires any obligations.
