Once priced at an alarming £260,000 1990's GB Pounds, this black, menacing drop top Lister is a bona fide 700 HP, 320KPH, hairdrying machine from HELL.

Founded by Brian Lister in 1954 the name would be familiar with you, the company would strip down cars such as the Jaguar C and D type and rebuild them in their own style, these cars would often embarrass the Jaguar factory cars.

Brian Listerís business partner at the time was the engineer Warren Pearce and in the 1980ís the Lister name was revived by his son Laurence Pearce. Wanting to capitalise on Jaguarís success at Le Mans with the XJR-9 and having been tuning XJSís for some time he decided he would recreate the XJS as a supercar with Ferrari F40 performance.

Only 32 cars were made in both Coupe and Convertible forms, they started with a bare shell, a V12 crankcase and Cylinder head castings, F1 specialists Cosworth did the engine work including reboring to 7 litres, higher compression pistons and specialised machining and construction, this liberated 500 BHP (370kW), one of the briefs was to seat 4 adults and this required modifying the shell to gain an extra 75mm of rear leg room. Other modifications were required and the only standard parts remaining are the doors, windscreen, suspension uprights and the wishbones. This was no stripped out supercar though, it was trimmed in the finest Connelly hides, had deep Wilton Carpets and German fabric for the convertible roofs.

The car was a sell out with 31 of the 32 cars being snapped up by patriotic Brits.

Now for car 32! This is the car we have for sale here.

This was to be Laurence Pearceís personal car and 500 BHP would obviously not do, the engine was returned to Cosworth who spent more time in the engine room and achieved almost 700 BHP (522Kw), the car was fitted with a 6 speed Getrag gearbox instead of the standard 5 speeder and was finished in Translucent Jet Black. The car was tested by UK Performance Car magazine in 1992 and it was clocked at 204 MPH (328 kh/h), I think Laurence Pearceís dream was realised!

The car came on the market in the late 90ís and was purchased by an Englishman living in Melbourne and the car was brought into Australia sometime after that, it subsequently changed hands and is now in Queensland.

This is a unique opportunity to purchase a one off Supercar that is superbly engineered, extremely fast and nothing if not eye catching!
