Hundreds of police and officials in Japan have been deployed to catch a band of monkeys responsible for attacking more than 60 people.

Parents are even being told to accompany their children to school because of fears they will be assaulted by the monkeys.

At least 62 people in two Japanese towns at the foot of Mount Fuji have been attacked by the monkeys in the last week.

The towns are now posting monkey-sighting updates on their websites and one is considering using tranquiliser guns against the animals.

A 150-strong team of volunteers, city staff, police and rescue workers has also been set up to go after the monkeys, which are believed to be a macaque species.

Animal experts believe the monkeys may be biting and scratching people for fun, predicting the attacks should stop once they become bored.

I guess he couldn't believe it first time round either.

Rogue monkey groups are bad news especially when alcohol fueled violence is involved.

The Govt should do something about sale of grog to these groups, and it gets worse around King Kongs birthday.
