Alright, the start is there, I bought my own domain + hosting (good deal: 3 gb space, 60gb traffic per month for 28 euro's).

I've started building from scratch with dreamweaver. So far the 'coming soon' page is finished, and I spend most of the day playing around with dreamweaver and reading tutorials.

Any advice is more than welcome :)

Next step is think of a proper layout and start building more stuff.

I haven't even looked at tagging etc that could pull in visitors...

I love the font you use for your logo mate. Not sure if you were trying to match the greys but they are a different colour on my monitor so I see the two boxes ?

Thanks :)

I've noticed the difference in colour as well :( it's the same colour code, but with the images it's gone through photoshop. Not sure if that slightly changes anything?

Colour profiling - look it up and learn it if you're going to be putting stuff on the web, it's a pain in the arse sometimes but makes sense eventually.

Thanks Ash, I've decided to save myself the hassle and have avoided the issue.

I've also been watching tutorials about CSS and DIVs, it's all new to me but I've heard that's the way to go, so   I've re-built it and started designing it that way... it does look a lot better now I'm starting to learn more  :D

If you're the type to learn by reverse engineering an existing fully functional website, then I recommend getting your hands on a standard installation of Joomla 1.5, get a handle on the templates it comes with, and then move on to installing additional templates and understanding them.

You'll get exposed to mutliple image types (JPG, GIF, PNG) as well as various "flavours" of CSS usage.

ok, it's starting to look like something now, just the urls to pages are hideous (shows the folders etc). Any idea how to change that to something decent?

Not sure I understand - is it just a list of exposed subfolders - eg http://aussieexotics.com/calendars/2009/ - or something different?  Post a URL to what you mean.

It is a list of subfolders it's showing:

an option would be to move the html file to the main directory I guess, I just wasn't sure if there is a different fix for it

(it was a lot worse as I had some spaces in a foldername, which showed in the url as '20%', but I fixed that)

Oh  you mean the names of the folders themselves!

Surely you have the option to name the folders and files as you please?
