Ok, so the news reckons that a wireless mouse for a passengers laptop was responsible for the sudden climb/dive broken bones Qantas airliner incident over WA this week...

yikes :scared:

The elevator controls went to pot.... thats the uppy downy flap on the tail

Agree PP.

From my understanding blue tooth is not used in any circuitry on a plane.  Its all hard wired.  Sounds a bit sus to me

okay..... but does it steer electrically, or does it have column/rack/pinion etc?

Throttles have been fly by wire for 10 years now...

steering can't be far away.

and planes have been fly by wire for how long?

You're the mechanic.

I assume it has a rack and pinion but to be honest I'm not sure.  How does the system work that changes the ratio.  i.e. the faster you go you need more movement with the steering wheel so in affect 300 turns lock to lock (just exaggerating to make it clear). :D

i always thought the bmws with the variable ratio steering were steer by wire. i thought the toyota hybrid was too.


HOWEVER...i don't remember WHY i thought that, so i might be completely wrong.

pfft... just remote servos and sensors I'd say.

If it were steer by wire, there'd be no need to turn the wheel in auto mode.
