i started with 300 download and 75 upload
Had one of them but not internet just BBS.
Telstra modem with handset hanging out the side. You could watch the text as it was downloaded on the screen.

Yes, I can't remember the name of the bbs I used in Adelaide but it was fantastic!
The first ISP I used was called dedset internet, and you had to go into their shop front and pay cash.
The boss there would proudly show you his room full of modems, 1 for each person currently connected.
You would get booted every 30 minutes to allow others to connect

I remember my first internet encounter, Netscape navigator of course. Sitting at the keyboard thinking - ok, so.. what's on the internet?  :D

Ok, Just google'd that from my phone and Nope'd straight out of it.. First thing I did was go to the http://www.holden.com.au/ and printed off pages from the website  :p in my defence - I was about 7years old.

I bought a disk from a internet provider which contained a text document with 100 internet address to visit.

Still remember working out that i didn't have to type "http://" at the start of each address

Wow that does take me back.
Before getting Netscape going I used to use Lynx (text based browser) and cruise the newsgroups and connect to BBS on my 2400 baud modem.

Ah yup, the 'Library monitor' told me all websites must start with www. and so http:// got me too  :D

A disk with links to visit is hilarious.
