Gotta bet it's a viral campaign. Gizmodo wouldn't 'paying' for receiving stolen property? They'd need to be brave or a bit stupid.

Does all the good things virals do - has a great back story we can all relate to, human drama as the engineer might get sacked, a mystery 'find' in a fake case ... meh
C'mon, do it!

You can do this quite easily on any Android phone. On my Google Nexus One I have an app that if I lose my phone I can turn it off and alarm it and copy all info onto web. It's based on the physical phone and not the SIM.

If I lose my phone at the pub I can make sure that no one can use the physical handset via the internet, it's called www.wavesecure.com and I'm sure that Apple won't be too far behind.

It's a pity that 4G won't work in Australia until about 2015.

Don't confuse the 4th generation iPhone (so called 4G) with the 4th generation of mobile infrastructure access (also called 4G or LTE).

Ah, so it's just the 4th Gen iphone, but I assume it will be 4G compatible???

FFS, it's all too confusing.

Yeah, just 4th generation iPhone, cool, thinner, better camera (two in fact), longer life battery etc. Very cool but not as radical in terms of changing the phone market as the 1G iPhone.

yep, original iphone (sometimes referred to as 2G) never made it to australia. iphone's went on sale when 3G was released which is compatible on existing networks.

info about 4G is pretty much all rumours at the moment so no one seems to know if it means it will be compatible on the 4G or LTE network or just that it's the one after 3G

but while the release date seems to be sometime this year for the US, apparently 4G or LTE network will not be rolled out in the US until next year by AT & T. apple's contract with AT & T expires this year so who knows what's happening, it's all rumours at this stage.

The rumors are put out there to keep you lot guessing.   :p

It doesn't work at the moment, our field trails have failed badly.........that's all I can say.
