10 minutes ago I switched on the hard drive with all my photos and videos of the Ferrari Rally and Classic Adelaide on it, and it started smoking, now my place is a stenchbox.

I'd sent the hard drive off with specific instructions that I want the data intact if they give me another drive - got a call this morning from the manufacturer saying that they've prepared my store-credit voucher for a new drive, I said I only want one with my data on it, he said data recovery services aren't his department but they will likely cost around $3,000... :faint:

I told them thanks for nothing you could have told me that before I sent it back, just send it back to me and I'll find someone who has the balls to just put the hard drive on a new power source to see what happens.

So, looks like most of my Ferrari Rally and Classic Adelaide photos and videos hang in the balance, c'est la vie!

Ok - I'm going through 2-3 light globes a week at the moment - it's very annoying just having them go off randomly and I often couldn't be bothered replacing at the time so I sit in the ambient glow of a monitor/teevee, and my pooter at the office just shuts down randomly a few times a week, and when I got into the office this morning and switched on some stuff I could smell that acrid smell of burning electronics - but only faintly. :?

Not to mention when getting out of taxis lately I try hard to not even touch the doors (shut it by yanking the window) because I get a pretty hefty static electricity shock which pisses me off. :irked:

Speaking of power, the extra hour of sun power has given me sunburn.

Ok this is annoying - two more globes out tonight. :irked:

Pretty much the only light I have left in my home are the kitchen and bathroom flouros, and the ambient glow of my laptop. :?

Ok so I caved and went for the new kind of lookalike-globes, costs about 5 times as much as a normal incandescent globe, but "lasts 8 times longer than ordinary globes" or whatever.  Not to mention it's much bigger and won't seat properly and so looks freakin stoopid sticking out the top of the lampshade.

It lasted almost a week. :irked:

Really giving me the shits - I'm shopping for globes almost as often as alcohol nowadays. :(
