A US marketing firm has suffered a severe backlash over its "homeless hotspots" initiative in which homeless people were fitted with mobile wi-fi devices

Thats a great idea. Those homeless people are making some money, they could really do well. Do gooders always have to mess things up for people.

I think it was a good idea. I hope who ever implemented it gets some recognition and not fired!

Having spent some time in Austin, it must be noted that anything that can be done to help the homeless problem there has got to be positive.

Thumbs up from me.

Also worth noting, that city's motto is "keep Austin weird".

What happens when the homeless all go to a shelter or soup kitchen???? The area around the soup kitchen would have great reception, rest of the city will be in the dark lol.
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

If it works well these guys will have enough money to eat real food, not have to go to the soup kitchen. Ooooorrr the company could give them McDonalds and Subway vouchers so they stay in their areas.

Thats actually very smart, I must have thought of it first :p, give them vouchers to get stuff but only in shops in the area they need to be in.

You could also put GPS tracking collars on them like Dolphins to watch their movements, corporations under the could "buy a hobo" scheme could make them wear sandwich boards and clothes with ads on them.

Councils could harness them to pull away broken down and illegally parked cars, keep the traffic down by not using tow trucks.

This could be a whole new industry , I might go into town and put a few homeless people on long term contracts and sub them out.

Uses for Homeless people.

WiFi Hot Spot.
Sandwich Board Advertising.
Secure car parks.
Dog walking.
Child minding.
Drinking buddy.
Que standers. (Very handy when buying Toilet Paper in Russia)
Community Service. (Takes your place if you are required to do community service)
Mobile Visitor Information guides.
There is no end to the uses that they could be used for.

I see a number every morning during my bike ride and I do feel sorry for them for the circumstances that have put them there. Over the years I have given several people who have been homeless jobs in my factory. Some have worked out well and some have not but not any real difference to any other section of the community.
