wow...i guess all the above comments are what make up a market...
the rear second coloured panel reminds me of the Bugatti Veryon,
the guy who thinks they should be at $200k has missed the point,
these cars are the Gallardo running gear in an Audi shell,
you get the same car for $100k less...
or as the boys say, you join the P One Club and drive the R8's GT3' 997 Turbos and too many more...
and still have change in your pocket.

nope....

The Audi R8 is already available with a 4.2 L V8 developing 414 hp (309 kW), the same engine seen in the Audi RS4. Pricing for the 414 bhp (309 kW) model starts from 104,400(160,000 in Ireland) or 77,000. The base price in the US is $109,000 for the 6-speed manual. An R-Tronic equipped R8 will be priced at $118,000.[1] The R8 has a dry weight of 1560 kg (3439 lb).

As Audi AG owns Lamborghini, 15% of the R8 is shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo, including the transmission and chassis. The R8 is made further distinct by its exterior styling, cabin, engine and pricing.

it has BITS of the gallaro, but it's definitely not a gallardo for $100k less. *sigh*

Hardly.  There are a few shared familial parts, but there's very little actual Gallardo in it.

edit: ^^^ there ya go.

one of the criticisms is that its mechanically rather like an RS4...but you pay 300k for the (arguably) sexy bodyshell

probably drives like a pig, too

If thats what you think then you should probably go watch episode 2, season 10 of Top Gear.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzBHVtR9844 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPRnGhRI0lo&NR=1 (Part 1 and Part 2)

And for those who think it isn't exotic, have a look when Hammond parks his 997 next to the R8. It makes the porsche look ordinary, which is a shame because I love the porsche,...until now..

It is... for now.  I just think there's a good chance that this time next year they will be as common as Porsches.

Any Melbournites know what the go is with the silver left-hook car at Penfold in Burwood?

Theres RHD press cars now, as seen on the monash fwy/CARSguide...so assume this is just doing the rounds of dealers.

Looks very classy in the showroom...but even amidst A8s and RS4s....it doesnt jump out enough  :(
