Hi All,

Looking at getting a porsche eventually, most likely either a 930 Turbo or 964 C2. I have been looking at 930 Turbo prices and they seem to vary a lot.

e.g compare this:

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-930-1982/SSE-AD-2365110/?Cr=7&sdmvc=1

to this:

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-930-1984/SSE-AD-2419801/?Cr=3&sdmvc=1

Similar year, same number of kms...but a $30k price difference.
Is there anything glaring from the ads which may indicate why such a big discrepancy?
Apart from the minerva blue one possibly being in a relatively bad condition?

I'm finding it hard to work out how much one should cost.

Thanks!
Andrew.

I would personally walk away from both cars.  After a 30 second look at both (So I've missed a lot)

Blue:

Been re-trimmed, I suspect in the wrong colour.  Carries non original post 1984 seats.  I think the 1982 model year 930 is supposed to have a rear wiper as standard, check!  Incorrect dash (later Carrera vents) later style centre console and gear shift.  Wrong mirrors, wheels etc.  Of course, all this may not be important to you.  Run the VIN and what it's meant to be.  Maybe an import and or conversion, check for corrosion.

White:

Much nicer specification with correct period sports seats.  Later radio, yuk.  Correct mirrors and steering wheel.  White/black a nice combination.  Annoyingly the Fuchs wheels have been polished, they should be anodised.  (Notice the correct gear lever and console compared to the blue car that is earlier yet has a later interior).  This car is more "Honest" than the above, but it's an import, and that's a big negative.  Imported from where I wonder?  It's just too expensive.  But looks like a good platform to make a nice original one if that's what you're after.

Both cars wrong exhaust BTW.  I would value the blue car at zero (Because I wouldn't want it at any price) and the white one at $50k.  But that's me!

Do more homework young man.

what Carl said,

the white one is far better than the blue, but even then it doesnt look like a $77k car to me, the interior somehow doesnt look right? like its been pulled apart numerous times and not been put back together correctly or something.

930 Turbos have been coming up for sale a lot in the last 12 months. No need to rush, keep watching.

Some nice cars in the 50-60k range. Porsche owners notoriously ask more than they sell for so make offers if youre interested in one.

Given the white car has German books I would assume that it is has been converted from LHD.

Just an assumption.... not confirmed.

This one looks nice, if only it was easy to get them across the ditch.
