What do they do with the metal brake lines to the pedal box?  I presumed that has to be moved.  Is the mounting point for the steering rack the same between LHD and RHD?

The whole body is constructed to be built up as either a RHD or LHD with blanking plates and rubber grommets used to close the unused holes. So the peddal box is just a matter of unbolting the blanking plates and installing. The brake fluid reservoirs are relocated from the onto the LHS engine frame to the RHS fire wall and the lines get replaced or /rerouted.

Hardest part is finding a genuine RHD steering rack as the RHD conversion is common, but Iíve never heard of a LHD conversion.
Everything else you need is ordered from Xks Unlimited or SNG Barratt.

Later US cars had dual strombergs carbs so most people switch to triple SU (US$6k) or just go triple webbers. They also has ugly side reflectors installed in some cases that requires some body work to remove.

I only really know about series 1 cars. Series 2/3 and 2+2 may be different.

The irony is that it would be easier to sell, and probably for more money, in unmodified original LHD form. It's a world market in the 21st Century and the LHD market is far larger than the RHD market.

Correct. There are a couple owners who haven't converted becvause they want the option to sell back into the US market.

Having said that LHD E-type were made in something like 5 times the number of RHD cars and the market pays for rarity.

Series 1 3.8 Litre Cars
850001 - 850943: RHD Open Two Seaters (943)
860001 - 861799: RHD Fixed Head Coupes (1,799)
875001 - 881887: LHD Open Two Seaters (6,887)
885001 - 890873: LHD Fixed Head Coupes (5,873)

Yes and No.

The LHD markets won't touch a RHD car where a LHD factory car is available. That leaves only the tiny RHD market to pay a premium, and then only for a factory original RHD car  - if they pay a premium at all. Remember most RHD markets can drive a LHD car anyway and these are rarely used toys. Why bother paying more?
