LP500 was the LP400 with the Walter Wolf kit and 5ltr engine.

Hmm I think that was a different car - thought the LP500 was the original one they showed but they produced the LP400, then later went back to the larger engine.

Countach LP5000S (321 Made 1982-85)

The LP500S, or LP5000S as some were badged, was introduced at the 1982 Geneva Motor Show and officially offered to the public as an option that same year. The new engine was not the same as the original LP500 show car and was actually smaller than 5 litres. The 85.5mm bore and 69mm stroke brought total displacement to 4754cc. With lower 9.2:1 compression power was 375bhp at 7000rpm and peak torque was 303 lbft at 4500rpm.

The most noticable difference in the cars was the more pleasant styling of the fender flares and front spoiler. The rear did receive some minor restylying.

A single prototype was built, the LP500 [1] (the 500 standing for the 5 L displacement of the engine which was intended to be used). Painted bright sunflower yellow, the car was a stunner at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971.

In 1975, Walter Wolf, a wealthy Canadian businessman and owner of the Wolf F1 Racing team in the 1970s, purchased an LP400; however, he was not satisfied with the LP400's engine and asked Dallara, the chief engineer of Lamborghini at that time and the founder of the Italian F1 racing team Scuderia Italia in the early 1990s, to create a special high-power version of Countach. It was the "code NO 1120148" Walter Wolf special with the original "5" engine from the Countach prototype which produced 447 hp / 7900 rpm and reached a supposed maximum speed of 315 km/h (195.7 mph).

thats right, the prototype did have the 5ltr engine. if i recall correctly, due to issues with insufficient cooling and excessive overheating with the 5ltr engine designed at the time (hence why it blew up), they decided to implement the 4ltr from the miura and tuned it to squeeze some more horses out of it. i think the cooling system for the 4ltr has to be revised as well to suit the countach.

pretty much the lp500's is just another bore and stroke bump from the LP400/s to keep up with the competition.

Went for a drive in this today. Lots of fun and every kid and grandma and everyone in between were falling over themselves pointing at it.

Sounded great, and felt fast, but way too kit carish for me. Aweful build quality inside.
