No - but it's pretty likely the old one needed a rebuild, which would likely cost double the car's value so what the hey just chuck a septic in there.

the engines are not that expensive in the early lambos, its how much a mechanic charges, the parts are accessible locally, right down to getting pistons and liners made...................and i reckon i should know what the cost is........not that much, even if it had a hole in the block, its not that hard

Well that's my point - go get a quote from someone to do a complete rebuild on a 12 cylinder Lambo Espada engine/gearbox from a mechanic which isn't your pet and see if it comes out at less than the saleable value of the car.
