Hello People,

I just figured i would post this up as a matter of interest for EVERYONE to see.
We all love the cannonball run right? we'll I have happened to stumble across pics that were taken this year from the MAKE-A-WISH foundations Exotic Car Show in Celebration, Florida, US.

Now im not going to steal any pics from the forum I found them, so I will post the links to the forums, and also the pictures of the lambo itself.

I even replied to the thread regarding some of the questions people were asking about the filming locations of the movie.

oh, and dont worry, once you see the car, read my reply to it, and you will see that I am shocked as you are...if not moreso...

.......and yes, it is the car...and yes...the interior colour has been changed from the original...AND YES I AM DISTRESSED!!!

LOL - not sure what the difference between "stealing" them from fchat and putting here vs optusnet is - but hey...

Here's the bits of the movie with the Countach and 308 in it (the rest is crap):

Here are some various comments by "E8F9G0" on youtube who seems to have had something to do with production of the movies:

Quote
Terry Bernius of Sarasota Fl sold the Lambo to the Coppertone Inc who loaned the car to Needham for the movie..By the way, Adrianne Barbeauwas included in the scene by being Hal's girlfriend at the time.......

larengineer..opening scenes shot outside Las Vegas... set work in Decatur Ga. and the Portolino Inn in Redondo Beach Ca...Reynolds was dallying Farrah Fawcett..Dean Martin spent the shoot in a good natured alcoholic stupor and Sammy Davis hadn't worked in years..the memories of McQueen and the real Cannonball faded into distant memory..

Reynolds demanded roles for Dom DeLuise..CAPTAIN CHAOS WAS INJECTED INTO THE SCRIPT..FIRST CHOICE FOR FEMALE LEAD WAS LONI ANDERSON BUT SHE WANTED 500,000 FOR THE ROLE..

During filming, the Countach proved to be very high maintenance mechanically..not a car to be taken out an flogged..the orgininal owner of the car, comparied it to a Cessna 310 in maintenance cost...

The Countach was owned by the Coppertone Suntan Lotion Co. who loaned/leased the car to Hal Needham producer of Cannonball Run....

Racer Brock Yates wrote the movie for Steve Mcqueen as lead, a serious moive about the real Cannonball, however when Mcqueen developed stomach cancer, Needham hired Reynolds for the part..who was living in Needham's guesthouse at the time....Hello comedy hour..Needham also directed the movie & stunt's..

The film CannonBall Run was funded by Hong Kong based production Co."Golden Harvest" who produced the Bruce Lee Kung-Fu epics & a cameo for Jackie Chan in the movie ...the Gurney-Yates Ferrari Daytona..winner of the 1971 race resides in the Bruce McCaw collection in Bellingham,Washington....

The Dean Martin-Sammy Davis satire starting at 4:01 was based on "The flying Fathers"from the 72'race which included Peter Brock(designer of the Shelby Daytona Coupe)and 2 co-drivers dressed as priests driving a M.B.-250SE an finishing 3rd overall behind Fred Olds(drive away) Caddy and Brock Yates in his Cotton Owens Dodge Challenger....

Casting was a mess.. the Martin & Davis parts were scripted for Jim Garner & Don Rickles..Garner turned down the part cause his scenes were too limited and Rickles declinced saying he wouldn't play second banana to DeLuise (Captain Chaos)who was demanded by Bert Reynolds for the part because as Rickles stated that "Dom DeLuise couldn't match him as a Las Vegas attraction"..A total cluster f**k of second rate "star egos"..as Needham said" f**k the script, lets shoot the movie and wreck some cars"

Brock Yates, explaining the rules of the Cannonball-Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash...."There is only one rule-there are no rules"

Broch Yates named the Cannonball after Erwin"Cannball"Baker a legendary cross country recorder setter..who in 1915 drove a Stutz Bearcat across the U.S.A. Los Angeles to New York in 11 days..Erwin set 145+ long distance driving records before he died in 1959..........

DarkLard999...you completely misunderstood my comments on CannonBall...first of all, I'm not seeking adulation from anyone on you tube..I was fortunate to have been on the tec.production staff of the movie at all 3 location shoots..My comments where meant as insider views ,behind the scenes impressions of the actors and the realities of working with the different personalities and car setups..so Mr Lard999, go back to sleep, the movie is over for you......

I tried to invite him to the discussion here/fchat, but you can't message him without being a "friend" - so have requested that.

Trust you to find this Ash. :D  Ah I'm showing my age.  Remembered this as a kid.

The other classic was Vanishing Point.  Sad ending, but great movie in its time.
