Amazing how little damage is needed to write off a car.

I love my car. Buy your own

Can't tell too well from the photos, but it looks like they almost cut a hole in the quarter panel to see if the frame was bent.

Must be a lot more damage underneath the sheet metal that can't be seen.

It will probably end up at Queen street as a rental ;)

My understanding is that write offs, whether structural or economic, are no longer registerable in NSW, with other states following their example soon, if they haven't already.

Anyone know for sure?

Isn't there a classification for the write-offs, statutory being the ones which cant be re-registered and repairable write-off requiring a VIV to be re-registered

There must be more damage than meets the eye. Interesting that the impact didn't even trigger the airbags to go off.

Looks like vandal damage or DIY insurance claim.

There is only Stat write-offs in NSW, no repairable. Once written off that's it, they are parts or scrape.

Vic has both but Stat once again means that's it, shows over for that car.
Repairable write-offs can be put back on the road but with the amount of stuffing around it's really not worth it. Plus the Viv guys are getting really anal, they want to see spot welds that are like factory in many cases. Plus they go on the register for ever I believe, once they go on there they are pretty much as untouchable as an imported Ferrari.   :p

......or an Imported Lambo!

Been 5 yrs now since NSW moved to Stat write off only. All the other states still have Repairable and Stat.
It killed the backyard repairers in NSW and was meant to stop rebirthing.

Even a car thats a repairable write off in QLD, repaired and re-registered maybe subject to to a secondary inspection and $450 fee if the car is ever sold to a new owner in NSW.

Best to just stay away from them.

They cannot be financed easy as well
