my personal view (going by what the media said ) is dealer should've known that there was a new model coming out.

on the other hand, if you're spending $700k+ on a car, you should've done your homework. probably would've found that a new one was going to come out in the next year

besides, you shouldn't believe everything a sales person says

not at all, Newman would have worded his question carefully, and he got lied to.

and called them out

and won.

at the end of the day, everyone has their own personal views and judges take different approaches

just because someone "won" or settled in their favour doesn't mean they were "right"

From memory, Newman bought a LP640, as he was told there wasn't going to be a roadster and then there was.

Sam Newman spitting chips over latest Lambo
Lawrence Money and Suzanne Carbone, The Age, April 5, 2006

AFL identity and Footy Show star Sammy Newman is sueing Lamborghini for releasing a more powerful model than the $725,000 Murcielago he bought last year.

At a price beyond most people's imagining, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 was launched last month at the 76th international car show in Geneva. It is a 6496cc V12 beast with a sixth-gear top speed of 340 km/h and with wild new gadgets, including an optional "engine hood of transparent glass" to show off the fancy innards.

And that, Diary understands, is what made car nut Sam Newman see red. Newman last year spent $750,000 on a yellow 2005 Murcielago, a super-roadster that he took to the Northern Territory to test its top speed (he was reported to have notched 300 km/h-plus on the limit-free outback highways).

But Sam's days as king of the road are over already with the new LP640 (see pic below from the Lamborghini website) about to put his Yellow Terror in the shade.

As Diary reported last week, Newman has sued Lamborghini and we now understand that the LP640 is the main reason. We believe Newman (who offers an uncharacteristic "no comment") claims he was told there was no new improved model pending.

Now the company is releasing just such a car, and listen to the ravings in the media release:
"The Murcielago LP640 now appears even more aggressive, with the new front and rear bumpers contributing significantly to its appearance. The design of the sides is also worth mentioning . . . the left side features a vast aperture for cooling the oil radiator . . . The rear-view mirrors and the windscreen wipers have been modified to improve aerodynamics and Hermera light metal wheel rims have been added.

"The graphics of the instrument panel lights in the cockpit have been revamped. The interior upholstery also has a new look thanks to the lozenge-shaped stitching.

"The engine of the new Murcielago LP640 has undergone outstanding and radical modification . . . excellent performance . . . it can now accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds (0.4 seconds faster than the previous model)."

Yes folks, imagine the dismay. Sam gunning his roadster in the Northern Territory only to find himself eating the dust of some idiot in a 2006 model. Even worse if the idiot is from South Australia.
