I'd be amazed if they weren't insured, but the insurance co, would establish cause and blame and liability.

In SA a dealership will put a trade plate on the car, cos then its registered and insured under the dealer. If its single operator style mechanic they may not have a trade plate……..but they should have, makes life easier since rego labels are defunct plus even for 3rd party property….if the mechanic has a prang the dealer is covered for 3rd party damage and comprehensive.

Adel Motors have a policy of driving every car after its washed cos they got hit with a accident after the owner collected the car (it was just washed) and said his brakes were wet and didn't grip.

The magistrate went with the owner of the car and the dealer had to cough up cos he didn't ensure the brakes were dry...

That's insane.

The law is an ass.

Ha! Funny!

Its ridiculous to suggest washing a car puts the owner at risk.

What a sad state of affairs we've arrived at.

Its not sad Phil, its the litigious world we live in, who to sue, who not to sue, some people just like to sue, I prefer to do it to sue

Love Johnny cash. The movie with Joaquin Phoenix and Renee Witherspoon is superb.

If Johnny cash were sherriff, there'd be no stupid arse law decisions about washing a guys car nearly killed him.

Just shoot the prick.

What's it worth fixed, given its known history now... $100k, maybe $125k?

How much to fix?
Surely a parts car now....

But there's always one!
